Ranking Fruits I've Eaten
if strawberries aren't in your top 3 then we are NOT friends

foreword

fruits are healthy and cool. i don’t really have much of a foreword to give this time around because most of us are already familiar with what a fruit is…well hopefully. anyway, feel free to fight me over these takes, because that much i will take the last few words of this sentence to write into my blog: some people have WEIRD takes on fruit (or maybe i’m the weird one and have a closed mind..?)

my ranked list of fruits, with rankings ranging from S to F tier

the rankings

s tier

  • mango: my favorite kind of mangos are the ones sold as street food in south america, and i don’t know why but the way they slice them into long, thin slices sort of makes them taste even better during the summertime.
  • strawberry: they’re just too good, whether it’s eating them plain, or with some kind of cream/sauce, and especially when blended into a nice smoothie.

a tier

  • red grapes: just a classic to bring into a packed lunch when you’re craving a sweet snack.
  • white grapes: take everything i said in the previous fruit, but replace the word “sweet” with “sour” :-)
  • lime: this goes well with everything, and i like it so much that sometimes, even at the expense of my poor enamel, i will take bites out of them while eating my main meal…sorry for the imagery.
  • pineapple: it’s so good that humans will eat this fruit despite the fact that its enzymes eat away at our tongue.
  • tangerine: orange’s cooler cousin that is massed produced to be portable and less messy (refer to orange review).
  • watermelon: it’s honestly just shy of making s tier, save for the fact that just like pineapple it’s really time-consuming to prepare fresh, and i’m certainly not about to eat fruit that comes in a sealed plastic box on a supermarket (so privileged…or is it the other way around because those fruit platters tend to be more expensive?)

b tier

  • green apple: if i’m craving a sour apple, it always tastes better than red apples, especially when they’re nice and juicy.
  • red apple: just a classic, but i’m always more partial to the juicier, sweeter apples if i’m going to have red ones (favorite is fuji), otherwise it just ends up being mid.
  • banana: another classic, but it’s a little overbearing in smoothies (as in, adding any banana will make the whole drink taste like banana) and it can often be too sweet for my liking.
  • coconut: this is a fruit that’s imo better to cook and make products with than to eat raw, but coconut anything will end up being pretty good (rice, icecream, milk, etc.).
  • cranberry: i’ve never had raw cranberries, and crucify me for this take if you must but i rated it this highly only because i really, really like cranberry juice more than any other fruit juice.
  • lemon: lime’s annoying, overrated cousin.
  • kiwi: it’s sooo nice to have on the few occasions that i’ve been able to enjoy it in, and i’m one of those people that will eat it with the skin on (does anyone not?)
  • orange: it’s an all-time classic, but it’s just too hard to eat without getting it everywhere, and i’m not too partial to having orange juice all over my mouth and clothes…perhaps i’m the messy one.
  • peach: a bit dry for my liking, but has an amazing flavor, and it’s also one of my favorite energy drink flavors lol.

c tier

  • blackberry: i think it’s best for juices and smoothies, i just don’t think they taste that good by themselves, kind of dry.
  • blueberry: to call it c tier would be a sort of averaging the amazingly fresh peruvian blackberries that are rich in flavor with the crappy tastelessness of canned blackberries.
  • cherry: most overrated fruit of all time, it’s genuinely not that good besides the literal cherry on top that goes on milkshakes, sorry not sorry.
  • grapefruit: amazing for drinks, but often ends up being too sour for my liking.
  • pear: apple’s annoying cousin.
  • raspberry: very similar to blackberry, i just don’t really see the appeal like that.
  • guava: they’re just kind of hard to find where i’m at if i’m being honest, and the closest i’ve had to them are the tiny guava candies that come in green packets, so i kind of can’t assess it super fairly.

d tier

  • date: just not a fan, they taste way, way sweet with no other taste to balance it out.
  • raisins: i’ll actually eat these in like a trail mix or something, but i can’t understand why anyone would eat these willingly by themselves.
  • honeydew: my school loves to serve these for breakfast, and everytime i come to appreciate their pretty color and apparent juiciness, i’m left with a tremendous amount of disappointment.

f tier

  • avocado: fun fact, i became allergic to these sometime in my teenage years and can’t enjoy them anymore, but even when i could have them it’s just not that good, certainly not worth the hurt.
